FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (January 21, 2024): The Ohio State Championship Series (OSCS) held a meeting on January 7, 2024 to discuss the schedule for the upcoming 2024 season. Along with representatives from participants in 2023, there were new motorcycle club representatives in attendance that expressed interest in joining the series as well. After much deliberation and thought, the Ohio State Championship Series volunteer organizers, with the input from the race community, have decided to focus on motorcycle club-based organizations that have race facilities in Ohio. All OSCS event races are at locations that are organization-based, not-for-profits, meaning that any funds generated from these events will go to the organizations, not one, individual promoter. It’s the series organizers’ hopes that the series’ events will help to keep the local motorcycle organizations alive and well, providing tracks for the racers to ride and practice on for many years to come.
The 2023 OSCS was a great success thanks to the sponsors/partners that came aboard for the inaugural year of the series. Those sponsors included: Whitcraft Motorsports, Celina Cycle Center, Rehmert’s Kawasaki & KTM, HDRTracing.com, Pathway to Herbs, and R-Nyne Designs. The Ohio State Championship Series volunteer organizers are looking forward to expanding the partnerships for 2024 and providing even more year-end awards for the participating racers.
The series will include 10 races and 2 Fun Ride Days total held at the following clubs: Triangle Motorcycle Club, Cincy Speedway, Sunset Ramblers, Western Reserve M/C and Treaty City M/C. New for 2024, the series will have 3 different disciplines of racing; half mile, short track and TT (see the schedule for details).
The 2024 Ohio State Championship Series dates are as follows:
April 20 – Triangle Motorcycle Club – Fun Ride Day
May 25 – Cincy Speedway – Short Track
June 8 – Western Reserve M/C – Short Track & TT (Two points paying events in one day)
June 22 – Treaty City M/C – Fun Ride Day Short Track (5 points for all riders who attend)
July 20 – Triangle Motorcycle Club – Short Track
July 21 – Triangle Motorcycle Club – Half Mile
August 3 – Cincy Speedway – Short Track
September 21 – Sunset Ramblers – Short Track & TT (Two points paying events in one day)
October 19 – Triangle Motorcycle Club – Short Track
October 20 – Triangle Motorcycle Club – Half Mile
Riders will be required to race at least 5 of the 10 events to be eligible for series awards. Riders who participate in ALL 10 events will be automatically entered into a drawing for prizes (to be determined) at the year-end-awards banquet (need not be present to win). Riders who participate in the Treaty City M/C Fun Ride Day event will be awarded 5 points. The series sees the importance in keeping local tracks up and going, and Treaty City M/C members have expressed a great desire to be a part of the series. Therefore, a Fun Ride Day will allow riders to check out the track without hindering points in a negative manner since a race hasn’t been held there in a couple years. It’s also a great opportunity for riders to get extra laps in while having a great time with the community.
Howie Doin Roger That Racing (hdrtracing.com) has committed to attending all OSCS events and doing at least 7 entry giveaways at each event, including the Treaty City M/C Fun Ride Day. Rehmert’s Kawasaki & KTM, PBR Photography, Celina Cycle Center, Bowers Racing and R-Nyne Designs have also committed to partnering with the Ohio State Championship Series for 2024. Final series awards will be announced at a later date, but the partnership of HDRT Racing and PBR Photography guarantees that the top three finishers in each class will receive a customized 52”x28” garage/track banner.
The Ohio State Championship Series awards paying classes are as follows:
50cc Open
65cc
85cc
250AM
450AM
30+
50+
These are classes that are congruent with the existing class structures at all series tracks and allows for all ages and wide variety of bike sizes to participate.
A representative from each club, plus one HDRT representative will comprise the OSCS board to allow for cohesive decision-making processes. Representatives are as follows: Bob Davis (Western Reserve M/C), Melissa Brawley (Triangle M/C), Jason Bowers (Treaty City M/C), Jason Spurrier (Cincy Speedway), Karen Foltz (Sunset Ramblers), and Kaitlynn Osberg (HDRT Racing).
